Coaching a football team these days goes far beyond cones and whistles. With the right tools, managing a team becomes more structured and professional. This didn’t go unnoticed: in a recent episode of the Wereldveroveraars podcast by BNR, we had the opportunity to share how a unique coaching app, originally created on the sidelines of Dutch amateur football, is now gaining traction internationally.
In the episode “The Football Coach as an Export Product”, we talk about how Coach Amigo started from a practical need: making line-ups quicker, planning training sessions more easily, and tracking substitutions and playing time during matches. Fast forward a few years, and it turns out our app isn’t just useful in the Netherlands but coaches abroad are starting to use it too, from grassroots youth teams to adult league squads.
Gerald Baal from Transfer.LC also joined the podcast discussion, looking ahead: which markets are interesting? How do you adapt a coaching tool to the needs of different countries and leagues? And why could the Spanish-speaking market be a smart next step?
Why this is relevant for coaches and entrepreneurs:
- From local pitch to international market A product built for grassroots football is proving scalable across borders.
- Smart coaching tools on the rise The demand for easy-to-use coaching apps in amateur football is growing rapidly.
- A sports tech scale-up story How to expand on a simple idea while keeping it accessible for everyday coaches.
